The kind of black that doesn't just absorb light — it demands respect

There are black cars, and then there's this black car. The 2024 Cadillac Escalade-V in full black-on-black rolled into our shop at Simply Car Detailing in Newport News, Virginia with one mission: get it sharper, and protect it for the long haul. Bold, imposing, and dripping in Cadillac luxury — and when it left, it looked like something straight out of a luxury automotive editorial. Here's everything that went into making it happen.

682 Horsepower of Pure American Drama

Before we talk paint, let's acknowledge what's under that massive hood — a supercharged 6.2L V8 pushing 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac looked at a full-size luxury SUV and decided to supercharge it. The world is a better place for that decision.

Zero to 60 in around 4.4 seconds. In something that weighs nearly 6,000 lbs. The Escalade-V is a velvet sledgehammer — luxury on the outside, absolute monster on the inside. The exterior needed to match that energy. Challenge accepted.

Black Paint Hides Nothing — That's Why Paint Correction Comes First

Let's be real: black is the most unforgiving color on the road. Every swirl mark and scratch shows up like it's auditioning for a spotlight. This Escalade came in with the typical battle scars of a well-driven vehicle — and "okay" isn't what we're about here.

The 2-step paint correction handled all of it. Step one removes deeper scratches and oxidation. Step two refines the surface and maximizes gloss. The result? A finish so deep and reflective it looked like liquid black metal. This is the foundation everything else is built on — you cannot apply a ceramic coating over uncorrected paint and expect great results. The coating locks in whatever is underneath it, permanently. Get the paint right first. Always.

Nasiol NL272 — The Shield This Beast Deserves

Once the surface was perfected, we applied Nasiol NL272, our top-tier ceramic coating. This isn't a spray-and-wipe weekend product. The NL272 chemically bonds to the clear coat, forming a semi-permanent protective layer that delivers:

  • Durability — Years of protection, not months. Virginia weather doesn't scare it.
  • Hydrophobic performance — Water beads and rolls off instantly, taking dirt with it. Rain becomes a self-rinse.
  • Easy to clean — Grime and brake dust can't bond the way they do on unprotected paint. Less effort, better results every time.
  • UV protection — Blocks the oxidation and fading that slowly kills dark paint over time.

On this Escalade-V, the Nasiol NL272 didn't just protect the paint — it amplified what the correction had already achieved. The gloss went from impressive to genuinely jaw-dropping.

Vossen HF6-4 Wheels: The Signature That Ties It Together

The Vossen HF6-4 wheels in gloss black are the perfect closer on this build. The multi-spoke design sits flush and aggressive against the body — but the real showstopper hiding behind those spokes? The red Brembo brake calipers. That pop of red against an all-black build hits different. Subtle enough to not scream for attention, but once you see it, you can't unsee it. The ceramic coating extended to the wheel faces too, making brake dust cleanup significantly less painful — because those wheels are too clean to let road grime win.
